changing schools and hopefully chapters
I hope everyone is having a fun summer. :)

My name is Jessica Pruitt and I'm transferring from South Alabama to the University of Alabama this fall. If anyone in this community is from that chapter, I'd really appreciate it if I could talk with you, as I'm a little confused on how to go about affiliating.

Would I be able to help out with recruitment this fall? (That would thrill me to no end~ <3)

But anyway, please and thank you to anyone that replies/has any helpful information for me. :)

"To be womanly always, to be discouraged never"

I just wanted to say congratulations to all of my CHI OMEGA sisters on 112 amazing years of sisterhood! Chi Omega has meant so much to me and meant so much in my life, and I thank all the people I have met and the ideals that have strengthened me since I have been a part of this wonderful organization.

A sister in NC needing help.
This is me, by the way--not a story I was forwarded or something. I'm X-posting this everywhere.

My family and I are going to Argentina Dec. 28. My in-laws are planning a wedding, and my parents and brother will meet my husband's family for the first time. Important trip.
In July, I went to the USPS to have my passport changed because my last name changed. From the travel.state.gov website, I learned that I would need to renew it, so I had my pics with me to do so. I was told at my local post office that I did not need to renew it and I do need to fill out form DS-19, US Passport Amendment/Validation Application.
Because life is often crazy, this form sat on the desk until I rushed it to the address on the form, with an envelope in which they can overnight it back to me. I included the $60 fee for 3-day processing.
Yesterday, because the USPS tracking number confirmed that the office received the application, I went online to see if my application was in the system. It was at this point that I noticed that I was supposed to send photos with the application. However, I had been told expressly by the postman that I should not include photos; in addition the DS-19 form said nothing about photos. So, I called the national passport agency, who told me that the DS-19 form expired in 2005 and is invalid.
After making a few phone calls, I have found that with 5 pieces of supporting documentation, I can use my passport in my maiden name. Great.
Except that I had to send my passport to the Charleston Passport Center along with the invalid DS-19 form.
I have called the national passport center at least 5 times. Charleston is a closed center and the only number I have found for them (obtained by googling the address--there are none listed on the regular site with contact info for other passport facilities) has been disconnected. No one at the national passport center will call the Charleston facility for me.
I would almost sit back and relax, thinking that it could not take more than a day for them to realize that they cannot amend my passport, but I am not even in the system yet, and the woman I talked to this morning says that they will send me a letter indicating that the form is invalid. I don't have time for this. With Christmas mail the way it is, it needs to be sent NOW in order to be back to me by the 28th.
I am contacting my Senator, but if anybody has other ideas, I NEED them. I would gladly drive down to Charleston, but the facility would not let me in.

An AWESOME example of how great Chi O girls are!
Just to preface this little story, I'm not just bragging on the Chi Os at University of Alabama- I think this really reflects well on Chi Os everywhere!

I just wanted to share with all of you wonderful ladies a story I heard on the news a moment ago. As all of the ladies that go to school in Alabama know, the University of Alabama just expanded their stadium, and opened the season against Hawaii today. The NBC affiliate in Birmingham (NBC 13) was doing a human interest piece about how the people are enjoying the new stadium, as well as how Hawaii fans have been received. One man from Hawaii was interviewed, and he said to the reporter, "you know, I wasn't sure how I would be received, or what to expect, but the Chi Omegas like adopted me as a houseboy. I'm definitely going to encourage the athletic director to come back here every year! The people have been great!" Fast forward to the end of the report, as the anchor was transitioning to another story, he remarked, "Gotta love those Chi Omegas!"

I LOVE IT! I'm so proud of the way you UA Chi Os are representing yourselves. Keep up the good work, because it makes us old alums (even from other schools- I went to Samford) SO happy to know that we're still attracting the best girls.

And, btw, welcome to all of our newest new members, because I know that a lot of schools are having recruitment right about now, and I hope it's going well!

Hi everyone. I posted here awhile ago about some retreat ideas/games....I received a lot of suggestions and I wanted to say thank you. I feel as though my chapter is having a bit of a bonding issue...so I'm in charge of the upcoming retreat in May and I was wondering if there are any activities your chapters do for chapter bonding. I want people to get to talk to others that they don't normally talk to, or are in different classes. Along the lines of retreat ideas, I feel as though some of the newer members aren't 100% on the history and founders of our sorority....do any of your chapters do any activities (I don't want to do a bingo type game) where you quiz them on the history of the organization?

I'm not given a very large budget for this retreat since I have to plan senior sendoff, where they get a party bus and go somewhere, so I'm trying to do as many bonding activities as I can. I would love to get away for the night, but I don't have that in my budget with everything else. Thanks in advance to any suggestions!

This week is also Greek Week and 2 years ago ChiO got 1st place and let me tell you, it's going to happen again! GO CHIO!

So.. we had big/lil revealing Thursday night and although my lil and I were a 1 and 1 match... she wasnt as excited as I had hoped she would be.. I am not sure if it was just alot to take in and that it was just before spring break/after midterms.. or what.. but it kinda made me sad because I was SO EXCITED for that night.. but oh well I know she really wanted me and I really wanted her I am just excited to have her as my lil, even if she didn't show her excitement way I wanted her to. One really good thing from that night was I got to see my BIG! That was fun since I rarely see her now that she is student teaching and working.. she's a busy girl and 21 so when she's not working she's usually out to the bars with all the rest of the senior Chi O's n such so it was super nice seeing her.. we are having a big/lil date when we get back woo hoo!!

Quick question:

I'm the sisterhood director for my chapter and I was going to recognized a sister every week. In an organization on campus, they have this thing called a "Support Bra" and it's a highly decorate like triple F bra, and whoever it goes to that week, gets to wear it during the meeting (and this is a coed organization). I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on what little mascot/item I can use....I'm having a very hard time coming up with something that would be cute, and maybe funny, but to make the sisters very proud to get for that week. I'm in Panhellenic and we have a little Bearcat, who's name is Orlando Bloom, that we pass around to a different chapter that week and they put an item, such as a button or ribbon, on the bearcat with their chapter letters on it. I'm not sure if I should use an owl (our mascot) or whatever.....If you have any ideas can you please comment? I like having other ideas. Thanks!

I am now officially an active memeber of the Delta Lambda chapter. We had our pledge class sleep over at my house last night and I feel so much closer to these girls than ever before. I am looking forward to our symphony dessert tonight and hanging out with all of my sisters! This has been such an amazing experience so far and I am so glad that I have been lucky enough to be apart of everything! On top of everything, I now have a special bond with my boyfriends mom that makes us closer than I could have ever hoped for. (she's a Chi Omega from Arizona State). She even sent me a bouquet of red and yellow flowers this morning! It was amazing!

Bid Social Ideas?
Hey ladies,
I am theta theta's newest social chair. In years past we have lacked in good bid social ideas. And while I have some of my own ideas I was wondering what some of you guys have done in years past? Thanks so much!

Hey, I'm from the Iota Beta chapter at UMass and I was wondering if anyone had any fun ideas for a recruitment skit? Ours is pretty out of date and according to sisters who were recruitment counselors last fall ours was one of the worst on campus :(

Any ideas would be appreciated! Thanks!

Birthday bonanza!
My Big's birthday is tomorrow!! :D I already have a cute little photo album to give her that's decorated with a custom-designed owl character I had created just for her... But what else should I add to it? I really want to show how much I appreciate having her as my Big, but I'm not sure exactly how to go about such~ :/

Any and all suggestions are welcomed and highly appreciated. ^_^
